Almost April...

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 26, 2011, 9:24 PM

News and Fun Happenings

Hey guys. Not a whole lot is going on, I finally posted the two commissions, the white horse and the fjord. Both have been in the works for almost 2 months so it's nice to see them finally on here! It will be sad to see them go off to their new owners though.

I have several more commissions so there will be new stuff in the coming weeks. I have 4 commissions in the works right now. I don't want to give too much away. Two of them are realistic type horses, and two of them are very fantasy themed, with bright colours and such. I like having commissions, I don't think I would be motivated to do anything otherwise. Yay for motivation

I still have two unicorns for sale in my etsy shop- Cynosure and Chryssipus. Feel free to check those out if interested.

As far as non-art related things go, well, I guess things are going. Next year is going to be pretty scary since it's the last year of my degree and everyone gets into the whole "what am I doing with my life" phase. I am trying to do a thesis project for next year and have been doing interviews with potential supervisors, but it's a really scary process. The rejection is pretty depressing, but I think there are a few profs I have a chance of working with.

And aside from that, I have exams coming up soon, which is always fun. Actually my exam schedule this semester is really nice, I have my hardest exam first. I think my last one is april 23rd. And I have a few big projects due in the next couple weeks, nice little send off to exams. So art might be sparse at best.

I'm still not entirely sure what I want to do this summer. Last summer I made lots of money working but didn't have time for anything else, so maybe I'll try to change things up a bit. There are lots of art related things I would like to try, like sculpting humans or dragons, that type of thing. Sooo we'll see. I haven't drawn anything in ages either, I'm not sure if that has to do with time or inspiration. Sculpting just feels so much more proactive, but I want to get back into doing both.

I think that's all I have to say, I'm so boring :XD:

Out of curiosity what degree are you studying? My first guess would be sculpture of course but then I study illustration and my gallery has none of that in there!

Looking forward to bright fantasy sculpts!

No I'm in psychology, I've never taken art in school (well except in like, high school but that hardly counts) I wish I was doing something in sculpting. :XD:

Ohh that's cool! And amazing that you make such beautiful sculpts with no "official" training!

Always is refreshing and rewarding to get your finished work (especially commissions) posted out in the open! Glad you're doing well with that. Did see the two new pieces, and they are indeed fantastic.
Lots of big changes heading your way with the end of school coming up, though. I think you'd have issues if you were a little worried about things, but never fear! It's just another adventure in life.
Hope you do enjoy and have an easier time figuring out the next steps of the trip. =]

Thank you! :)

Yeah I guess the end of school came a lot faster than I thought! I mean I'm only just finishing 3rd year but still. I'm hoping I do well enough that I can just stay and do my masters and then phd after, I'm not ready to leave yet. But we'll see, a lot can change in a few months. Thanks for the kind words though!
