Zenith II by scenceable Zenith II by scenceable
Zenith is a ooak (one of a kind) kirin sculpture, made from polymer clay over wire and foil and painted in acrylics. Her hair is a mix of tibetan lamb fur and suri alpaca wool. She is about 4.5 inches from chest to bum, and about 12 inches tall to the top of her tree horn.

Zenith was a ton of fun to make, and has a lot more sculpting detail than my other kirins, including leaves and vines in her scales, and sculpted fur covering her whole body. The tree horn is made from plastic, glue, and fake moss so has a fair bit of flexibility to it to avoid damage. Her tail is made similarly so is more durable than it looks!

Zenith is for sale on etsy here: www.etsy.com/listing/157779163…

Stunningly executed concept! Absolutely beautiful and original :) Love the detail and I am super impressed that you managed to get such a dynamic figure to stand on it's own!

Nawww... pretty one. All those details are pleasure to look at. I especially love this tree. It had to be fun to bend all those

May I ask you a question? Where do you buy this wool you use for manes and tails? Also.. Is there anything (with lower quality and not so soft I guess) that could be used instead? I suppose those wool isn't the cheapest one, and I'd like to get something cheaper but still usable to begin with sculpting.

Thank you! The hair I use on most of mine is tibetan lamb fur, you can buy mini pelts of it on ebay for about $5-$6 each which is enough for one, maybe two sculptures. Tibetan lamb fur is a lot cheaper than many high quality mohairs (like the stuff Faye Cohen uses). Other than that you can sometimes find bargain lots of raw mohair, it requires a lot of washing and combing but is a lot cheaper. Of course, buying in bulk tends to be the cheapest method, but if you aren't planning on making 20 sculptures there's not much point. Viscose is a synthetic type of hair that tends to be super cheap (like $3/oz) and has a a less realistic texture. If you do buy viscose, make sure it's not spinning fiber (generally look in ooak shops, not yarn shops online). Ummm not sure what else to suggest, I've seen people use unraveled yarn but it doesn't look too good imo. Hope that helps a bit!
