Winterlore III

Winterlore is a OOAK (one of a kind) unicorn or kirin sculpture. She was completely hand made from polymer clay over a wire and foil skeleton. She was painted in acrylic and her hair is tibetan lamb fur. She is about 8 inches tall.

She is a variation of the chinese unicorn, or kirin, so has more deer-like qualities as well as scales and a lion's tail. When the commissioner described the colour scheme she wanted, the theme of winter just jumped out at me and that's sort of where I went with it. I just wish it was actually winter so I could get some snowy photos.

I particularly like this sculpture's expression, it's really soft and reserved, I think she has a lot more personality than my sculptures usually do.
