Kitten's Joy and Roses in May, both awesome horses owned by sarah and ken ramsey.

So on my poll these two were the top vote, although I suspect most people who voted don't follow racing anyways :XD: but still.

I had the amazing opportunity to go to Ramsey Farm in kentucky last summer, where I did get to meet Kitten's Joy, and another horse named catienus. The groom there was really nice and let me hold joy and take awesome photos. Roses in May, unfortunately for me, was sent to japan for stud duty (reason enough for me to list japan on places I'd like to visit sometime)

So both of them were at their prime in 2004 I think. Kitten's Joy narrowly missed a win in the Breeder's Cup Turf to Better Talk Now (who is also awesome) and Roses in May ran 2nd to Ghostzapper in the Breeder's Cup Classic. Pleasantly Perfect also ran 3rd in that race, and is another favorite of mine (though he won it the year before).

And unrelated, I got to meet ghostzapper twice, and pleasantly perfect once! And I got to see better talk now run in, and win, a race at woodbine.

We don't get many great horses at woodbine, so I'm easy amused by things like this.

I've liked Ramsey's horses for a while, just in general. I liked Nolan's cat (who ran at woodbine once as well!) and two horses named Nothing to Lose, and Everything to Gain.

ANYWAYS.

I hate this drawing. It's 11x14 inches, pencil crayon and ink, but took like...3 hours which is bad because it's so big. I've been really sick these past few days, really dizzy and headachy. I went to the doctor today...so yeah. This was for boredom and I really don't like the result. That, and I had no ref for roses in may since I couldn't find one, and my photos of kitten's joy were all in contrasty sunlight so had very little shading.

The red and white around the horses is because that's the owner's colors...white silks with a huge red R on them.

Anyways, whatever. It was fun. Hopefully I can draw Kitten's Joy again later. Kudos if you read my long babble.

Done in pencil crayon (polychromos mostly) on 11x14 paper with ink for the background. Took 3 hours or less.

I doubt if anyone would want it, but I'm selling the original for $15

I like it! I don't know why you'd really hate it, I like it a lot! Ecspecially the black one(Roses in May, right?) I don't really follow horse-racing, but I love horses quite a bit. I should watch one of these races at some time.

Thanks! Roses did turn out better than I thought, especially since I didn't have a ref for him. And you should, it's exciting to watch :D

You're welcome! And I'll watch it when it comes onto my TV. :D
