for *PolarisAstrum's Contrast Contest

again, this one took forever to come up with. Contrast is such a broad topic, and one full of general cliches and such, so I wanted to something sort of... original. hehe

The main contrast here is between bravery and cowardice. I was planning to make the river more surging and scary, but alas I suck at water and splashes and such, so didn't bother.

The other contast is between the two worlds, one is happy rainbow land, and the other is some barren wasteland. This sort of adheres to the first contrast, in that it takes bravery to break away from something bad and start over.

And finally, life and death. One horse is skinny, rotting, and in disdain. The other is shiny, muscular, and...a unicorn!

You could also look into deeper things, like brainy vs brawny, beauty vs ugly, etc etc in the two horse's personalities. However, bravery is the main theme to this :)

anywho, 14x17, pencil crayon, about 4 hours. :D

Beautiful job, the contrast in this picture seems almost endless depending on ones' point of view or rather way of interpreting the picture.

It`s very beautiful. Somehow I like the dark and skinny horse more than that pretty one. I like your ideas about contrast in this one. It was a problem for me to decide what contrasts I should use in my contest entry.

thanks! I'm glad they have enough personality and such for you to be able to pick between them! and its a good theme, so is hard to choose what to do :P I spent a few weeks figuring it out

For me figuring it out took a week, but drawing only 3 days. But theme really is good. It was interesting to draw it.
