Prize for ~Falloway
for getting 2nd in my contest.
She wanted her character, Niltak, in this pose with whatever background. I did grass and trees, because I like to. Then I forgot the prize was for a simple background (ie watercolor) but oh well. I like this better.
This thing actually turned out way better than I thought. I guess bays are a lot easier to do shading/ shine on than white horses, plus I used a good reference that had lots of highlights. I used derwent colorsofts blended with prismas solely for the horse.
For the background I used prismacolors (I actually dug out my old massive set of them that I never use anymoe) and a few derwents. I quite like the trees too... curly trees are fun to color for some reason. The leaves are acceptable but not amazing. *shrugs*
So, I guess the horse especially is an improvement for me... thats what good crit gets you.
thanks so much! I drew this while watching aladdin...then the little mermaid. I had fun.
this is the ref I used: [link]
so done in pretty much just derwent colorsofts and prismacolors (poor polychromos, they're lonely.) took about 3-4 hours. Whatever amount the two movies were. haha.
edit: sorry I just realized I colored over part of the white patch. I shall fix it in the original version and try to retake this, no worries.
