a villains contest? How could I not draw these two? hehe
So, I know that no one wil be judging on description, but just for everyone else, here's a little rundown:
Lhorvetta is the horse. She is an ex racing thoroughbred who broke down, then was sent to be a show horse but was abused, then slaughtered. She was saved, by shadow, or "the shadow..." as others in the forest call her. Shadow is the grim reaper. She "saves" souls by harvesting them and chucking them in this here river. (which is in the picture!) the river is gaseous, and sort of like the material in the pensieve in harry potter. When people/ horses, etc are dying, and ask for saving, shadow comes and takes them, essentially imprisoning them. (like pirates of the caribbean 2, sorta)
Also in the river, the souls turn into goulish beasts called Solstices. Those are the evil jellyfish type dudes swimming around. They are angry and violent, so if you step in the river they MAUL you. But of course they won't touch shadow or lhorvetta since they control the souls. The horses are fresh souls that have been deposited, and haven't had time to change yet.
The river is like a moat, and shadow and Lhorvetta live inside. It protects them. (it's kinda like the cave in harry potter with the inferi that jump....)
so there you have it. Here's my crappy story: [link]
ok, so about the actual art, the trees are ink, the blue is acrylic paint, and the rest in pencil crayon (derwent and prismacolor)
I made the shadows very contrasty to make it scary looking. and my camera was being a complete poo, and would not take a nice picture. so I angled the light to highlight the river. best should I could get, and I like it. the original is 14x17 inches. I don't like how Shadow looks so nice and innocent, and I am not sure if this exactly shows the act of making them villains, but I already drew a picture of them "harvesting" a soul, so wanted to do something different. (the other one is here: [link] )
I think that's it. ironic it's such a long description for a contest that specifically said to not worry about a description, tee hee.
thanks...I used a lot of white pencil crayon... haha, and some greys and such... I probably used my finger to smudge the grey at some point but thats all
