El Prado (1989-2009)
Sire of (pictured, left to right) Kitten's Joy, Medaglia D'Oro, Borrego, and Artie Schiller, as well as (not pictured) Asi Siempre and Senor Swinger.
I was really upset when I heard he died. I met him twice at Adena Springs, once in 2005 and once in 2008. I've been having a lot of health/ mood issues lately and his death came at a weird time for me, it just affected me a lot.
So a lot of emotion went into this, and a lot of time. I think I spent longer on this than any drawing ever, like 10hours total. Ironically, of the 4 smaller horses, Borrego took only 1 hr to shade, and I like how he turned out best. Artie looks awful, and I sort of want to fix it, but I don't know how. I have had this done for over a week and was hoping to fix it, but oh well.
Done in pencil, about 12x17 inches ish.
El prado, Kitten's Joy, and Medaglia were all referenced from photos I took in kentucky. Borrego was referenced from a random photo I found on google (my photobucket is full or I would link it) and Artie is referenced from this photo: [link]
edit: there are some splatters on here because I had the bright idea of eating a pomegrante and drawing.
