Alasair by scenceable Alasair by scenceable
Alasair is a OOAK (one of a kind) unicorn sculpture. He was handmade from polymer clay over wire and tin foil. He has blue resin eyes and tibetan lamb fur hair. He is a golden palomino with light dapples. His horn and hooves are gold. He is quite large, about 6.5 inches from chest to bum, and about 9 inches tall. He was made to be in a forward dressage type jog.

Alasair was a commission by =cloudrunner64. He was a lot of fun to make. I think the anatomy on this one is a huge improvement from my other sculptures.

Your sculptures are so beautiful! They are so realistic, unlike anything I have seen before. I have only made one sculpture, it's a unicorn :D Yours looks so much BETTER than mine :aww: I'd like to practice hehe.
Keep up the good work!

I'm curious about how large you could go, and how durable they are. I'm looking for an inscale horse for a ball jointed doll I have. XD They're pretty big, so the horse would have to be at least 60 cm's high. I'm curious if that's even possible.

I'm sure it's possible, although making the entire thing from clay might be difficult. And it would cost a ton to ship. But *Indigo-Ocean made one that size with faux fur on it. Actually I think she made 2 or 3 that size. I'm sure it could be done somehow though! :)

Hmm that would be really neat to see! It's very hard to find in scale horses for the dolls I have XD

I imagine! BJD's don't really come in smaller sizes either right? I haven't ever seen like, a 3 or 4 inch tall one. They're pretty though, I almost bought one a few weeks ago, but I didn't want to get into another collection. :XD:

His muscling is stunning. I like the massive unicorn type--not the frilly skinny things!

^^; thank you. I still have a lot to learn with anatomy and proportions though, I have lots of room to improve. And if you look at my sculptures from 2-3 years ago (they are in my gallery somewhere) those ones are really awful. It just takes time and practise, you can do it too :)

Thanks! This guy took a few weeks from start to finish, but I think about 6-8 hours sculpting, 2 painting, another 2 to stick the hair on. Something like that :)

Thanks! *Indigo-Ocean has a bunch of interesting tutorials. I used some guides for the basic method when I started, like how to make an armature, but most of it I figured out myself just by trying. I still have lots of my old sculptures in my gallery, most of them are really hideous :XD:
